Know your Neighborhood: Old City Condominiums 313 - 315 N. 3rd St
The two Renaissance Revival buildings at 313-315 N 3rd St. were placed on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1984. From 1881 - 1918, 311 - 313 N. 3rd St. was a distillery, Angelo Meyers Whiskies (1st B & W photo). Later, 313-315 served as offices and manufacturing sites for shoe companies, including Janney & Burroughs Tanners, The Shingle Leather Co., and Jacob Glass Wholesale Footware (see 2nd B & W photo from 1972). 3rd B & W photo is from 1964 - note buildings across Wood St, which were later torn down for the Vine St Expressway (route 676).
